  • What items can be renewed and for how long?

    Renewals

    • All general items can be renewed twice online or over the phone (unless the item is on hold)
    • Technology items cannot be renewed
  • How many items can I have checked out and for how long?

    Checkout Periods

    • Faculty, Staff, Graduate Students, Emeritus Professors

    Notes:
    - All library materials are subject to recall.
    - Circulation will notify patrons of overdue items and hold notices via email.

  • What are the overdue fines?

    Overdue Fines

    Standard Items
    $0.25 per day
    Recalled Items
    $1.00 per day
    iPads
    $25.00 after the first day overdue; patron is then billed for replacement costs after five days overdue
    Reference books, Interlibrary Loan items, Music CDs, CD-ROMs, and DVDs
    $1.00 per day
    Three-Hour checkout items
    $6.00 for first hour; $1.00 per additional hour


    Notes:
    - There is no grace period for overdue items

  • How do I place a hold or recall on an item?

    Holds and Recalls

    Holds

    Holds will reserve an item for you as soon as the item is returned. Holds can only be placed by staff at the Circulation Desk.

    Recalls

    A recall will reset the due date for the item to one week from the date the recall was placed. Items are eligible for recall two weeks after they have been originally checked out. Fines for late recall items increase from 25¢ per day to $1 per day. Recalls can be placed on items by viewing them in the catalog or from the search bar on the homepage.

  • Can I check books out if I am not a USU student or staff member?

    General Public Library Cards

    If you aren’t affiliated with USU, you can purchase a General Public Library Card for $25.00. This card is valid for one year and allows you to check out up to 10 books for 3 weeks.

    Alumni and Spouse cards

    If you are a USU alumni or spouse of a USU staff member or alumn us, you can also check out materials for no cost by first obtaining the proper ID card from the USU Card Office.

  • How do I checkout books from other libraries?

    Borrow from other Utah Libraries

    If we don't have the title you need, you can borrow books by requesting them from other libraries using interlibrary loan or by checking them out in person from other partner libraries.
